How business can THRIVE

Introduction

Recently I participated at the R3.0 Conference Workshop in Rotterdam and spoke at the 2019 International New Business Model Conference in Berlin, showcasing a new project I have been cultivating: The Holistic Regenerative Innovative Value Enterprise (THRIVE) platform and Sustainability Performance Scorecard (SPS) tool which aims to assess the strong sustainability performance of enterprises, alongside their business model.

This builds on last year’s presentation, whereby the approach takes a holistic, top-down perspective to assess corporate sustainability performance within context using global thresholds and allocations and accounts for science-based targets. This year the project has gone from paper to an open web-based software platform, incorporating a visual charting tool making it instantly identifiable as to what extent an enterprise is sustainable/unsustainable and in what areas there is a need for improvement.

How to provoke transformative change?

Encourage

enterprises to do good to do well in pursuing a competitive advantage

Provide

business analysts with tools to guide enterprise strategies

Assist

researchers to analyze trends and effectiveness of business models for sustainability

Allow

governments to forecast the effects of regulatory or legislative actions

Empower

individuals consumers like you and me, to actively stimulate competition among enterprises by voting with our wallets.

All for the more significant global shared value creation and collaborative, peaceful partnerships for people, planet, profit with purpose and prosperity (7Ps). It is anticipated that future versions will incorporate backcasting targets as well as machine learning for data acquisition.

Strive to Thrive

Recognizing there is no sustainable business in an unsustainable world, THRIVE visually encapsulates the notion that all enterprises must strive to thrive to ensure the longevity of humanity on planet Earth. Below is a short version of the presentation together with a short paper covering the study in question. For more information, visit our website, partake in using the freely available Sustainability Performance Scorecard tool and provide us with your feedback and suggestions.
